2013 Healthy Athletes Special Smiles

Special Olympics Special Smiles Volunteer Registration

UW-Stevens Point ~ June 7, 2013

Carroll University, Waukesha ~ Aug. 3, 2013

Special Olympics Wisconsin is seeking volunteers who have an understanding of the importance of oral health and are interested in working with people with intellectual disabilities. Dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and students are needed. Family members of clinical volunteers and general volunteers from the community are also helpful as recorders and athlete escorts. For more information about the Healthy Athletes program, go to:

Volunteer Activities

  1. Athlete check-in/assistance
  2. Oral health screening
  3. Recorder
  4. Mouth guard fabrication
  5. Fluoride varnish application
  6. Oral health education
  7. Athlete escort

Time Commitment: The Special Smiles venue will be open from 8:45 am – 3:45 pm at the Stevens Point event and 9:30 am – 4:30 pm for the Carroll College event in Waukesha. Volunteers may choose to serve a half or full day shift (see volunteer registration for time options).

Orientation, lunch and a volunteer shirt will be provided.
